About this sign

A landscape warning sign for a biohazard, with an authorised personnel only message. It keeps untrained people out of the area where biological hazards are present.

Fix it on the door or wall at the entrance. Use it where a wide sign fits above a doorway.

Which regulation requires it

Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996. Employers must provide a safety sign where a significant risk cannot be avoided or controlled by other means, must keep signs maintained, and must make sure staff understand what an unfamiliar sign means and what to do about it. HSE guidance L64 sets out the detail. Signs are not a substitute for engineering controls or a safe system of work.

General guidance, not legal advice. Whether a given sign is required at your premises depends on your own risk assessment.
